Greetings! My name is Janice Hsu and I am a high school senior. I enjoy sports, music, food, gardening, and learning about the animal kingdom. I am proud to be a part of the volunteer team for both GLS and YGLS every year. What makes all the months of preparation worth it is seeing familiar faces as well as new ones attending YGLS. This event empowers people of all backgrounds and pushes each one of us to make a difference. I have been with YGLS since it was started a few years ago and it is truly incredible to see how the team has developed. The best thing about being part of this student-run event is how we are also continuously maturing in our own leadership and teamwork. I am blessed to be able to serve and foster personal growth in those around me. It is often heard, “everyone wins when a leader gets better.”

The annual YGLS event is an amazing gathering of great minded individuals - attracting students eager to learn and speakers who are willing to share their expertise to motivate those students to success. The YGLS event has inspired me year after year to continue to work towards my goals no matter how hopeless it may seem. The selected speakers have given me ideas that can be applicable in my future - teaching me much in the duration of this preparation process. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the event and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve on the YGLS team once again!

YGLS has taught me very valuable skills like teamwork, communication and patience, and I can’t wait to work for YGLS again this year!
